The City Never Sleeps Better Slip You an Ambien...
Hey friends,
What a week its been! So much has happened that I can't even wrap my brain around it. This week we started rehearsals for our New Works project, which we will get to perform next Saturday. New Works is exactly what it sounds like. It's basically a reading of a new work/project by composers and lyricists in the industry. The show is called 'Love & Other Destinations' by Brad Ross and Michael Cooper. I am obsessed with all of the songs and cannot wait to perform them. Fortunately, we will be able to perform live and maskless; however, we are still unable to have a live audience, so the show will be live-streamed. Hey, i'll take it.
So we started rehearsals on Monday after class via zoom and it's been a blast. We fortunately had Friday night off, and I went out with some friends to a few bars. It was tons of fun. Maria is finally back from being in Mexico for 3 months, so we HAD to go out! I didn't go to bed that night until 3 in the morning!
With only 4 hours of sleep, I woke up a bit hungover to grab breakfast with Sofi and Valeria at The Laughing Man before rehearsals. If you havent been to The Laughing Man in Tribeca, I highly recommend it. After refueling, we headed to school for our 10 am music rehearsal for Love & Other Destinations. I had such an amazing time. I missed being able to sing in an ensemble. There's nothing like creating live music. After running through our group numbers we grabbed lunch at Chipotle, where Zhenya gave us his first impression on a burrito bowl. I think he liked it. We then headed back to campus to do a full run through of the show. We finished up rehearsal at 4 and then parted ways to relax before we got together later in the evening. I was supposed to take a nap but that just didn't happen...
After I got ready, I headed to Maria's apartment for a little pre-game before we bar hopped. Zhenya and I got a little hungry so we stopped at Mcdonald's first where he tried ranch for the first time. It was big day of firsts for him.
Our original plan was to hit up my favorite piano bar: Marie's Crisis but unfortunately the line was just unacceptable. Instead, we trekked our way to midtown to hit up some bars we had gone to the previous night. I don't know if it was the tequila or my exhaustion, but I fell down the stairs on my way to the bathroom.... I have a huge bump on my leg to prove it. After a long night of walking and drinking, we ordered our uber and headed back downtown to FIDI. I got home around 3 and knocked out at 4.
Now that it's the day after, I am completely exhausted. I did SO much the past few days, my body needs a break. I am so excited for our New Works this week so I have to stay focused on that. I'm pretty sure it will be live-streamed if you're interested in checking it out! Leave a comment below if you would like me to send you a link!
I had such an amazing week, and even though it was hectic, I am so grateful for it. Being spontaneous, drinking too much, not sleeping and repeating it the next day is what your 20's are for right? While it was fun, I don't think it's wise to make a habit out of it. Oh well. You only live once! I'll talk to you soon!
I can't wait to chat w/ you again next week!
